market street manor ...

around noon, I threw my family in the Oldsmobile and we cruised down to the Market Street Manor ...

we joined up with the Cables, the Stirring and the Bridge Community Church to encourage and bless the families living downtown in the Market Street Manor ... moms and children and families and soup and smiles and cookies ... amazing ... we love God, we love each other, we love the world and we love the least ... that's church ...

I love bringing my kids with me ... Ava was asking so many questions ... "why are we eating soup?" ... "who are these people?" ... Ava wanted to make a cameo on my blog ... she writes, "we gave clothes to kids and people ... we gave food, too ... we ate lots of soup" ... (ava's first blog) ...

on the homefront, our whole family is sick ... headaches and runny noses and achy bones ... monday morning, we leave for our family vacation to Bend, Oregon ... I can't wait ... hot tubs and bears ... that's the life ...

Uh, boring? I don't think so. Not with a 4th kid on the way, a growing church, etc. Hey, Nathan. Lois & I have been listening to your teaching and feeling...hmmm...challenged and stimulated. We just listened to & discussed the Elephant of Greed. We've already been working on that, but got some additional insights.
1. The opposite of greed isn't self-abasement, but a grateful heart.
2. Be rich toward God...with our money...not just spiritualizing it to time + spiritual gifts. We've been giving more...working toward being more generous with God. It is freeing, holding things with a loose hand.
3. Beware of bigger barns...the story of the friend who build the ginormous house...we have friends who moved into a large house a few years ago, kept the other house they lived in, and now are moving into a $1Million house and upgrading it, and keeping their 2nd house. The sick feeling you spoke of is exactly how I've felt.
4. Look to yourself when thinking of greed...yeah, it's easy to point fingers to avoid our own areas of greed. Others greed should point us to greater generosity to God and those He loves.
5. When is enough enough? Certainly a question we're putting up on our refrigerator.

*We're hoping to come see you some Sat. night and enjoy the fellowship of the Stirring. Take good care, and God bless.

Love, Glenn & Lois
