in two months, the Stirring is hosting Erase the Dark, our music art and film festival ...
last year was amazing ... films and music videos ... original songwriting and music ... delicious food ... and over 100 pieces of art ...
this year, Erase the Dark will be on Friday evening, March 6th ... we'll feature 6 live performing artists, a couple short films, an art gallery and an interactive piece ... we've already spoken with a couple local filmmakers and songwriters ... if you want to be involved, please let us know ...
and the best part, all the proceeds goes directly to help the children at Cypress Elementary school in our city ... it's one of the lowest income schools in our area ... last year, we were able to purchase backpacks for almost 300 students on campus ... we bought gifts to thank every teacher ... we painted hallways and sanded bleachers ... we even designed a school shirt (thank you Juan) and gave every student a Cougar shirt ...
this year, it's all about shoes ... our goal is to raise enough money to buy shoes for every kid on that campus ... and partner with Cypress Elementary to help out in the most creative ways possible ... any ideas?
anyways, get involved ... church is more than just a chair ...

Awesome idea on the shoes. BRubble and I did this at the Manor last spring. The tricky part was getting their shoe sizes. The sizes were all over the map. We also hit a buy-one pair-get-one-half-off sale. The store also let us take home their foot measuring device in advance. I imagine with the 300 pairs to buy you'll just be guessing at what sizes to get?

call the school, ask the teachers what sizes are most popular and make sure to include a gift receipt for returns due to size, OR OR OR..(thinking I am) I can call Payless shoe source's main orifice and see if they'd give us a deal on a mass purchase of say...20$ cards? Most kids shoes can be had there @ that price...Let me know..I have phone, will beg, plead, cajole, harry, harrass, annoy, guilt, berate, bother, bewitch, bedevil, and generally make a nuisance of myself until they realize the ONLY way to get rid of me is to just do what I want, no matter what it is, but make him GO AWAY.
